<p dir="ltr">The Guatemalan Public Ministry announced on Monday that it had arrested lawyer Claudia Gonz&aacute;lez, a former member of the International Commission against Impunity (CICIG), in the middle of a search operation against former prosecutors in anti-corruption organizations. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">&quot;As part of the proceedings in the Illegal Criminal Prosecution case, the Internal Affairs Prosecutor&#39;s Office coordinated with the PNC (National Civil Police) the apprehension of Claudia Gonz&aacute;lez,&quot; the Public Ministry reported on the X social network, previously called Twitter. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">The entity previously reported that it was carrying out raids on properties in different areas of the department of Guatemala, including the capital, Guatemala City, the Sputnik news agency reported. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">According to local media, Judge Jimi Bremer ordered the arrest of Gonz&aacute;lez and Juan Francisco Sandoval, former head of the Special Prosecutor&#39;s Office against Impunity (FECI), for possible abuse of authority, as well as former FECI prosecutor Eva Sosa. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">Gonz&aacute;lez is a lawyer for Sandoval, as well as for other prosecutors who have been charged by the authorities. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">Sandoval, who lives in exile in the US, denounced on social networks that the authorities intimidated his parents with the raid. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">&quot;They are intimidating and intimidating my parents, elderly people who have no responsibility for the work I did in the MP,&quot; he said.
