The British Government is analyzing the possibility of placing electronic locators on immigrants who cross the English Channel in small boats, according to official sources.

 

This initiative generated criticism and reactions from human rights organizations.

 

The Times newspaper was the first to bring to light this project of the Ministry of the Interior, which could incorporate GPS locators to immigrants.

 

According to the outlet, the purpose of this measure would be to prevent immigrants from disappearing if they cannot be located in detention centers.

 

"We are studying all the options to guarantee control over those who arrive illegally," said Suella Braverman, Minister of the Interior, in an interview with the BBC Breakfast program, of the British public broadcaster.
