The cargo ship that sailed from Ukraine despite the Russian blockade arrived on the Turkish coast

A first cargo ship that left Ukraine after the end of the grain and cereals agreement arrived in Istanbul on Thursday, defying the Kremlin blockade, which increased tensions in the Black Sea, where a Russian warship opened fire on Sunday against a ship of a Turkish company.

The Hong Kong-flagged "Joseph Schulte", which left the Ukrainian port of Odessa on Wednesday, is the first ship to ignore Russian warnings to sink cargo ships that ignore its decision to end the agreement that allowed until July the export of grains from the former Soviet republic.

Maritime traffic monitoring sites showed the container ship in the final leg of its course, which was carried out through waters controlled by Romania and Bulgaria - two NATO countries -, avoiding international waters.
