The UK Air Force has sent its fighters to intercept two Russian bombers north of Scotland, British Deputy Defense Minister James Heappey said.

 

"The pilots deployed Typhoon fighters to intercept two Russian long-range bombers and escorted them as they passed through the north Shetland Islands, ready to counter any potential threat to UK territory," Heappey was quoted as saying by the agency. military and picked up by the AFP news agency.
